Alvaro Cardenas Joins Men's Basketball Program

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's basketball has announced the addition of point guard Alvaro Cardenas. Cardenas (Granada, Spain) joins the program as a transfer from San Jose State with one year of eligibility remaining, and was one of the top-rated point guards in the transfer portal, according to On3.

The addition of Cardenas gives Boise State four of the top eight returning players in the Mountain West, according to Bart Torvik: Tyson Degenhart (1), Chibuzo Agbo (3), O'Mar Stanley (4) and Cardenas (8).

JUNIOR (2023-24): Started all 30 appearances as a team captain…averaged 13.1 points per game on 45.7% shooting from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc…averaged 5.7 assists per game…2.7 assist to turnover ratio which ranked third in the Mountain West and 40th nationally…30th nationally in assists per game…had four double-doubles on the season with four 10-assist games.
