COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State's Jan Lucca Marquardt has been named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week. This is his first Player of the Week honor while at Boise State.
Marquardt led Boise State to a pair of home victories over UNLV and Nevada by going a combined 3-0 last week. The 5th-year from Germany went 1-0 at No. 3 singles, with his second match being abandoned, and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles.
After teaming up with Sam Sippel at No. 1 doubles to win their match 6-3 versus UNLV, Marquardt provided the Broncos with the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles with his straight-set victory 6-4, 7-6(7).
On April 14, in the win over Nevada, Marquardt and Sippel again won their No. 1 doubles match 7-5; this time, they clinched the team doubles point for Boise State in the Broncos 4-0 sweep over the Wolf Pack.
