LAS VEGAS — The Mountain West announced Tuesday night in Las Vegas that a trio of Broncos are among 18 student-athletes to receive men's tennis all-conference postseason honors. Sam Sippel, Jan Lucca Marquardt, and Jip van Assendelft are the three Boise State representatives on the All-Mountain West teams as selected by the league's head coaches.
Â
Sippel has received All-MW accolades in both singles and doubles, Marquardt earned doubles recognition with Sippel, while van Assendelft received accolades in singles.
Â
Sippel is now a three-time All-MW honoree, twice in singles (2023 and 2024) and once in doubles. The senior spent most of the season nationally ranked in singles and in doubles. The native of Germany finished the regular season with a 16-16 singles mark while playing the team dual season as the primary at the No. 1 position, where he went 9-10. Â He has played at No. 1 doubles throughout the spring campaign with a couple of partners going 12-9. Sippel and Marquardt went 4-1 in conference play and 6-2 overall as a team.
Â
Marquardt joins Sippel as an All-MW honoree in doubles. This is his first all-conference honor at Boise State since joining the program for the 2021-22 season. The native of Altdorf, Germany, leads the team in doubles victories this year, going 22-14 overall and 6-2 at No. 1 doubles with Sippel this spring. In singles play, he has recorded 15 wins on the year and an 8-6 mark this spring, playing primarily at the No. 3 position.
Â
Van Assendelft earned All-MW singles honors in his first campaign with Boise State. The sophomore transfer went 16-14 overall and 2-2 in conference play on court two. The Dutchman has spent several weeks in the national rankings this spring. He recorded one of the top singles victories in Boise State history on February 23 when he defeated Michigan State's Ozan Baris, who was ranked fourth nationally at the time. Van Assendelft went 12-15 in doubles on the year, including a 6-7 mark with Sippel at No. 1 doubles this spring.
Â
The trio will lead Boise State this week at the 2024 MW Championship in Las Vegas, where the Broncos will defend their 2023 title starting Wednesday evening against Air Force.
