BOISE, Idaho – Senior Taylor Caudill pitched 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball and Alycia Flores blasted a three-run home run to lead Boise State to an 8-4 victory over New Mexico, Sunday.

Caudill (16-12) went the first-five innings in the circle for Boise State (30-21, 10-9 Mountain West) and reentered to record the final two outs of the game as the Broncos clinched a spot in the MW Championship, May 9-11 in Boise.

"We are battle tested," head coach Justin Shults said. "I am happy for our seniors. We need to finish the regular season strong and then we have a tremendous opportunity to play at home the following week."

Flores extended her hitting streak to 11 with a 2-for-4 day at the plate. Her fifth home run of the year, and fourth during the hitting streak, came in the second inning and staked Boise State to a 5-0 lead.

Ashlyn Whalen, another senior playing her final regular season home game, added an RBI-single in the fifth to push the advantage to 6-0.

The Lobos (14-37, 6-13) scored three times in the sixth of reliever Jenna Bloom. The Broncos answered in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single by Brooklynn Pettis.

New Mexico put two runners on with one out in the seventh before Caudill returned to the circle. An error allowed a run to score before Caudill retired the final two hitters to end the game.
