
Broncos Use Balanced Attack to Beat Rams

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Nine Broncos collected a hit and Boise State defeated Colorado State 9-3 in Mountain West softball, Thursday.

The Broncos (31-21, 11-9 MW) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Boise State loaded the bases with one out on a double by Jordyn Hutchins, a single from Alycia Flores and a walk to Mykenzie Hanna.

Leah McAnally drove in two runs with a single and Sydney Groves followed with an RBI-single.

In the fourth, Hollie Farmer led off with a single and took second on a single by pinch hitter Karizma Bergesen. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice by Abby Bumcrot.

Sophia Knight then singled to center to drive in Farmer and Bergesen scored on a throwing error to make the score 5-0. Hutchins pushed the lead to 6-0 with a run-scoring single.

The Rams (26-18, 9-10) tallied a single run in both the fifth and sixth before the Broncos put the game out of reach with a three-run seventh.

Flores walked and Hanna singled to open the inning. After a sacrifice by McAnally, Groves walked to load the bases. Farmer grounded out to score pinch runner Keely Goushá. Ashlyn Whalen then drove in a run with an infield single and a second run scored on the throw for a 9-2 lead.
