BOISE, Idaho – The 12th annual Run for Dunn event is set for Sunday, June 2, at Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise.

Run for Dunn honors the life and legacy of Amy Dunn, a Boise State women's soccer student-athlete from 2000-2004. In 2012, Dunn lost her life to melanoma.

"The Dunn family has continually supported the evolution of our program and we are forever thankful for them," Boise State soccer head coach Jim Thomas said. "I, along with my family, staff, current and former players cannot wait to pop the runners on in memory of a Bronco great and to bring awareness to a great cause."

The event strives to spread melanoma awareness and educate on sun safety practices with an outdoor run along the Boise Greenbelt. Skin cancer screenings by local licensed dermatologists will be provided to all participants.

"We are proud and excited to organize this event every year, to remember and celebrate the life of our friend and teammate Amy Dunn," Run for Dunn organizer Libby Kamen said. "Run for Dunn not only pays tribute to her legacy but also raises awareness and funds for skin cancer research and prevention, as well as Amy's endowment scholarships. We hope it will motivate people to learn more about skin cancer and sun safety practices, as Idaho rates first among US states for deaths due to melanoma (per Idaho Dept. of Health and Welfare)."

Parts of the proceeds from the Run for Dunn benefit the Amy Dunn #14 Endowment Scholarship through the Bronco Athletic Association. Use promo code VARSITYB for $5 off registration. Additional information can be found on getitdunn.org.
