
Four Former Boise State NCAA Champions Selected for Mountain West 25th Season Outdoor Track and Field Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four former Boise State NCAA Champions were selected to the Mountain West's 25th Season Outdoor Track and Field Teams, the conference announced Tuesday.

The teams were selected by the MW 25th Season Committee as the conference looks to celebrate its 25th Season of excellence on and off the field of play.

Emma Bates
Bates was the 2014 NCAA Champion in the women's 10,000-meter in 32:32.35, running the second-fastest time in NCAA history at the time. She was also a two-time MW Champion, taking home titles in the women's 5,000-meter and 10,000m and 2012 and 2013, respectively. Bates finished her Boise State career as a six-time All-America selection in outdoor track and field. She still ranks second in school history in the 5,000m (15:32.46) and 10,000m (32:13.28), and third in the 1,500-meter (4:16.37).

Kurt Felix
Felix was the 2012 NCAA Champion in the men's decathlon. He placed first in the long jump, high jump and javelin throw to contribute to his personal-best of 8,062 points. He also took home the MW title in the decathlon in the same year, where he won five of the events. Felix was named an All-American, MW Outstanding Performer, High Point Award and Student-Athlete of the Year following his senior year performances. Despite competing in the MW for only one season, Felix still holds the conference and program all-time record in the decathlon (8,062).

Allie Ostrander
Ostrander was a three-time NCAA Champion in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, taking home gold in 2017, 2018 and 2019. She became the first female athlete to win three-straight national titles in the steeplechase and just the 15th to win three-straight titles in the same event. Ostrander concluded her senior season running the fastest collegiate time of the year in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:37.73) at 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She was also a three-time MW Female Athlete of the Year, first to do so in the conference. Ostrander was a semifinalist for The Bowerman in 2019, track and field's highest honor. She currently sits first in school history in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:37.73), 5,000m (15:24.74) and 10,000m (32:06.71), as well as second in the 1,500m (4:14.76).

Kristie Schoffield
Schoffield was the 2022 NCAA Champion in the women's 800-meter, where set a MW, program and personal-record time of 2:01.09. She became the third woman in Boise State outdoor track and field history to capture an individual national title. Schoffield was a two-time All-American and was named MW Female Athlete of the Year for 2021-22. She still ranks first in school history in the women's 800m with a time of 1:59.80.
