
Five Broncos Named All-Mountain West

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophia Knight is the 2024 Mountain West Softball Freshman of the Year, the conference announced, Wednesday.

Knight headlines five Broncos earning all-conference accolades. The outfielder, along with senior pitcher Taylor Caudill, garnered a first-team selection.

Senior designated player Alycia Flores, junior outfielder Mykenzie Hanna and sophomore infielder Sydney Groves received second-team honors.
Â
Knight leads the Mountain West with a .411 batting average and 79 hits. Her hit total is tied for fourth nationally and leads NCAA freshmen. She has set Boise State freshman records for hits, runs (51) and stolen bases (18).

Caudill, the Boise State record holder for career strikeouts, leads the conference this season in strikeouts (156), strikeouts per 7 innings pitched (6.4), innings pitched (170 2/3) and complete games (15). This marks the second-straight season she has been named first team.

Flores batted .365 in Mountain West games and has hit safely in 14 of her last 15 games overall. She has driven in 20 runs over her last 13 games.

Hanna leads the conference with 17 home runs, a Boise State junior record. She leads the team with 102 total bases and has a .646 slugging percentage.

Groves is batting .306 with 16 home runs and a team-leading 53 RBI, tied for 25th nationally. Her .694 slugging percentage and 1.133 OPS pace the Broncos.

Boise State hosts the MW Softball Championship, May 9-11. The Broncos open the tournament against Fresno State, Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
