BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's tennis has earned the 2024 Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Community Service Award in the Mountain Region, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The distinction marks the third time the Broncos have earned the honor in program history, having previously won the award in 2020 and 2021. The program has been honored by the ITA in five straight seasons, earning honorable-mention nods in 2022 and 2023.
"A very important aspect of our program is helping our student athletes develop as people in addition to what they are able to do competing on the court," head coach Beck Roghaar said. "We want to help create servant leaders through the opportunities being a student-athlete provides us as Broncos."
The team logged 76 hours of community service throughout the Treasure Valley last year. The Broncos worked with several organizations, including the Boise State Food Pantry, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Operation School Bell on top of 30+ events organized by BroncoLife.
The ITA recognized coaches and players for their excellence on the court and in their communities each season. The Broncos were selected from the 21 programs in the Mountain Region, which included teams from the Big Sky, Conference USA, Mountain West, Pac-12, Summit League, West Coast Conference and Western Athletic Conference.
"Our community here in Boise is flat out special," Roghaar said. "Any chance we get to connect with them is nothing less than a privilege. Our community is truly a part of the fabric of our program and a vital part of our future. We love the opportunity to serve those who pour so much into us."
