Five Former Broncos and Three of McCurry’s Individuals Set to Compete in Track & Field Olympic Team Trials

BOISE, Idaho – Five former Broncos and three of head coach Pat McCurry's individual athletes will look to punch their ticket to Paris at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team Trials in Eugene, Ore., June 21-30.
The Blue and Orange will be represented by Kristie Schoffield, Sadi Henderson, Marisa Howard, Allie Ostrander, and Ahmed Muhumed. McCurry's athletes include Judie Jones and Dana Klein, as well as Lizzie Bird, who is competing at the British Trials, June 29.
Schoffield and Henderson will compete in the 800-meter, Howard, Ostrander, Jones, Klein, and Bird in the 3000-meter steeplechase, and Ahmed Muhumed in the 5000-meter.
Kristie Schoffield
Schoffield competed for the Broncos from 2017-22 and was the 2022 800m outdoor national champion. She earned the 2021-22 Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year award, was a two-time first-team All-American, three-time Mountain West Champion, and seven-time all-conference recipient. In 2022, Schoffield set her personal best in the 800m, running a 1:59.80 at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships.
Sadi Henderson
Henderson ran for the Broncos from 2014-18, racking up five Mountain West individual titles, two All-American honors, and one NCAA West Preliminary Qualifier appearance. This is Henderson's second appearance in an Olympic Trial, having competed in 2021. She holds a personal best time of 1:58.62 in the 800m, setting that mark in 2021.
Marisa Howard
Howard, also currently coached by McCurry, was a three time Mountain West champion, two-time All-American, and was the national runner-up in the event in 2014 during her time as a Bronco. Following her collegiate career, she ran in two Pan American Games, and brought home the silver medal in 2019. Howard also competed in the 2021 Olympic Trials, falling two spots shy of earning a spot on Team USA.
Allie Ostrander
Ostrander won three NCAA National Championships, two Mountain West Female Athlete of the year awards, eight Mountain West championships, and was a 13-time All-American and 16-time all conference recipient while running for Boise State. As a professional, Ostrander ran in the 2020 USA Indoor Championships, finishing in seventh. The following year Ostrander finished eighth in the U.S. Olympic Trials, and recently finished fourth at the USA Cross Country Championships.
Ahmed Muhumed
As a Bronco, Muhumed appeared in one NCAA West Preliminary Round, was a two-time all conference runner, one-time Mountain West champion, and the Mountain West Freshman of the Year. In 2022, Muhumed finished 14th at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships as a member of Florida State's cross country team. Muhumed set his personal record time in the 5000m running a 13:08.73 less than two months ago at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix.
McCurry's Individuals
Jones ran at Nebraska, where she set multiple top-10 records and qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Round in 2019. Klein spent four years at Yale, and was coached by McCurry in 2018-19 at San Francisco. Lizzie Bird, a native of St. Albans Herts, England, spent her collegiate career with Princeton where she was a two-time national champion. Bird is also a two-time European Championship bronze medalist, and a one-time Commonwealth Games silver medalist.
