BOISE, Idaho – The ITA announced its Division I Women's ITA Collegiate Tennis National Preseason Rankings on Tuesday, Aug. 27, with incoming freshman Maya Dutta and Oklahoma transfer Zdena Safarova earning a No. 53 ranking in doubles.
Â
Dutta and Safarova are the lone duo from the Mountain West to be recognized in the rankings. There have only been four Bronco pairs that have finished a season in the ITA doubles national rankings in program history.
Â
Dutta, a freshman from Dallas, Texas, currently ranks No. 112 in the World Tennis Tour Junior Rankings. She concluded her junior tennis career competing in three grand slam tournaments in 2024, most recently playing in the U.S. Open Junior Championships. At the time of signing, Dutta was ranked as the No. 1 recruit in Texas and 51st nationally for the class of 2024.
Â
Safarova, originally from the Czech Republic, transferred to Boise State after one season at Oklahoma. The sophomore posted a 22-5 overall doubles record during her freshman year as a Sooner. This, along with a 13-1 record at the No. 2 spot with partner Julia Garcia Ruiz, helped them earn an ITA doubles ranking of No. 36 at the end of the season. Safarova also recently picked up a win at the ITF W15 Monastir doubles tournament with partner Marie Villet.
Â
Both Dutta and Safarova will make their debut in the Blue & Orange this fall.
