Boise State to Host Utah Tech and Southern Utah

- WHAT'S NEXT:Â Boise State will host Utah Tech on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. and Southern Utah on Sunday, Sept. 15, at noon. Both contests will be held at Boas Soccer Complex.
- SCOUTING THE TRAILBLAZERS:Â Utah Tech enters Thursday's match with a 3-1-2 record after a 2-1 loss against Arizona State (Sept. 8). This will be the second matchup all-time between the two as the Broncos lead the series 1-0.
- SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS:Â Southern Utah enters Sunday's match with an 1-4-1 record. The Thunderbirds will face Idaho State on Thursday, Sept. 12, before making their way to Boise. The Broncos lead the all-time series 6-0-1 with a perfect 3-0-0 record in Boise.
- NATIONAL TOP FIVE:Â Cross currently ranks third in the NCAA in individual shots per match, averaging 5.40. She leads the conference in the same category.
- RECORD ALERT:Â Genevieve Crenshaw is now tied for first in program history for goalkeeper wins. She shares the record with Janelle Flores (2014-17) at 30 wins. One more win will give her sole possession of the record.
- HOME SWEET HOME:Â Boise State is one of four teams in the conference undefeated at home, boasting a 4-0 record.
- HOME CROWD:Â The Broncos lead the MW in home attendance average at 1,186. San Diego State is the next closest, averaging 919.
- SECOND HALF SQUAD:Â Out of the 12 goals the Broncos have scored this season so far, nine of them have come in the final half. The Boise State defense has also managed to only allow one goal in the final half.
- COMEBACK TEAM:Â In the match against Idaho (Sept. 8), the Broncos took a 3-1 victory after trailing 1-0 at half. This marked the third time under Coach Thomas that Boise State came back after trailing.
- MIDFIELD MAGIC:Â Morgan Padour scored her third goal of the season against Idaho (Sept. 8), setting a new individual season high for herself.
- FIRST OF FIRSTS:Â In the match against Idaho (Sept. 8), Sophie Schmautz recorded her first-career assist.
- SENIOR CITIZENS:Â The Boise State women's soccer team will honor its seniors before the match on Sunday, Sept. 15, against Southern Utah. The list includes 13 student-athletes who will exhaust their final year of eligibility this season.
- OFFENSIVE STUD:Â In the match against UC Riverside (Aug. 29), Avery McBride recorded her first-career goals (2), as well as her first-career assist. She was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week following this performance.
- FRESHMAN STAR:Â Jillian Anderson scored her first-career goal in her first-career start against UC Riverside (Aug. 29). This also marked the first start of all Bronco freshmen this season.
- HISTORIC SUCCESS:Â Boise State recorded nine goals over its first three matches, the most since 2019, which is also the last time Boise State won the conference championship.
- SETTING THE STANDARD:Â The Broncos took 24 shots against Portland State, the most in a season opener since Jim Thomas took over as head coach in 2013.
- ABOUT THE BRONCOS:Â Returning for the Broncos are 2023 All-Mountain West Second Team honorees Carly Cross and Morgan Padour. 2023 MW All-Newcomer Team selection Cindy Conner also returns to the pitch for Boise State, as well as Genevieve Crenshaw, who received 2023 All-Tournament Team distinctions.
- PRESEASON PREDICTIONS:Â Boise State was picked to finish third in the Mountain West's preseason poll, tied with Colorado State with 99 points. San Diego State was selected to win the conference, receiving eight of 12 first-place votes and 117 points. Utah State came in second with 107 points, including two first-place votes. Colorado State received the final two first-place votes.
- KEEP AN EYE OUT:Â Genevieve Crenshaw, Carly Cross and Morgan Padour were named to the 2024 Mountain West Women's Soccer Watch List. Crenshaw was one of two goalkeepers on the watch list with 36 total athletes.
- BIG GOALS:Â After finishing the 2023 season with a 8-2-1 conference record and an 11-4-6 overall record, the Broncos look to return to the MW Championship in 2024 after making a semifinal appearance in the tournament last season.
