Dutta Wins Singles Championship

BOISE, Idaho - Freshman Maya Dutta impressed in her singles debut, finishing undefeated en route to winning the top draw of the Boise State Classic, Sunday.

Newcomer Zdena Safarova also went undefeated in singles play, winning 6-0, 6-4 in game one, 6-0, 7-5 in game two, and 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in game three. Senior Ariadna Briones Ginesta finished 2-1 over the weekend.

All ten Broncos competed in the tournament, and all four newcomers picked up their first victories in the Blue and Orange at the three-day event. In doubles, both Dutta and Safarova and Lorelyz Marruffo and Paula Schaefer finished the weekend 2-1.

What's Next
Dutta and Safarova will travel to Cary, N.C., to compete in the main draw of the ITA All-American Doubles Championships. The Broncos will then host Montana State and Idaho State at the seventh annual Barb Chandler Classic at the Appleton Tennis Center, Sept. 27-29.
