Broncos Rally Past Wolf Pack

1/18/2025 4:53:00 PM | Women's Basketball

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's basketball overcame a double-digit first-half deficit to take down Nevada, 61-53, Saturday afternoon in ExtraMile Arena.

Trailing 29-19 with 4:10 left in the second period, the Broncos (14-6, 4-3 Mountain West) went on a 20-6 run over the next 10 minutes to take control of the game. After a back-and-forth fourth quarter that featured six lead changes, Dani Bayes converted a corner 3-pointer with just over two minutes remaining to put the Blue and Orange up seven and help seal the victory.

Three Broncos scored in double figures in the win, led by a 14-point performance from Mya Hansen. Natalie Pasco added 12 points and a pair of 3-pointers in the victory, while Tatum Thompson recorded her third consecutive double-double, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Hansen and Thompson opened the game aggressively, combining to score the first seven points for Boise State. Nevada overcame five first-quarter turnovers, shooting 60.0% from the floor to take a 19-13 advantage.

The Wolf Pack (8-12, 3-4 MW) extended their lead to 10 midway through the second quarter, but Pasco and Thompson combined to score 12 points in the final four minutes to cut the Nevada lead to 31-29 at intermission.

That Bronco run extended to the second half, with the Blue and Orange jumping out to an 8-2 spurt to take a 37-33 lead at the third quarter break. Nevada stormed back, preventing Boise State from converting a field goal for the remainder of the period until Alyssa Christensen hit a shot at the buzzer to give the squad a 41-38 advantage heading into the final frame.

The Wolf Pack scored back-to-back baskets to retake the lead early, setting off a back-and-forth between the two squads. The contest featured six lead changes in the final quarter, with Boise State making it a two-possession contest with just under five minutes to play. The Broncos got some separation following the corner 3-pointer from Bayes and finished the game 4-of-6 from the free throw line to solidify the victory.
