FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Boise State women's basketball dropped a hard-fought battle on Tuesday night, ultimately losing 79-70 to Colorado State in Moby Arena.
Three Broncos scored in double figures in the loss, with Mya Hansen leading the way with 19 points and a career-high nine assists. Tatum Thompson notched her fourth consecutive double-double, finishing with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Natalie Pasco added 12 points and a season-high six boards.
Thompson netted the first six Bronco points, but the Rams (14-6, 5-2 Mountain West) opened the game on fire from beyond the arc, draining four of their first five attempts. Colorado State created an early 10-point gap, but Boise State ended the period with a trio of 3-pointers and trailed only 26-22 after the first 10 minutes.
Hansen netted five consecutive points to give the Broncos (14-7, 4-4 MW) a brief lead, but Colorado State answered with a 14-5 run to take a 40-34 advantage late in the half. Pasco broke the drought with a running layup and Boise State trailed 42-38 at the half.
Colorado State's lead grew to eight early in the period, but an 8-0 Bronco run tied the game at 51 midway through the third. The Rams answered the call, ending the quarter on a 10-2 run to take a 61-53 advantage into the final frame.
The Rams extended their lead to 12, but Hansen cut the lead to single digits midway through the fourth with her third triple of night. Pasco and Thompson followed with back-to-back baskets to cut the advantage to 69-64 at the final media timeout.
After a pair of Colorado State free throws, Abby Muse made a layup to keep the deficit to five with 3:23 to play. Boise State wouldn't convert a field goal until a Hansen floater with 23 seconds left, but the game was already out of reach as Colorado State clinched the victory.
