Broncos to Compete at Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational

BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State cross country team will travel to South Bend, Indiana for the Joe Piane Invitational, Friday.

"We are super excited for this opportunity; it is one of the best meets in the country. We are looking forward to competing against a talented and diverse field, including Wyoming from the Mountain West, as well as teams from various conferences. This invitational has the potential to pay dividends later in our season." -Boise State Head Coach Pat McCurry said.

To begin the meet, the women will run a 5k beginning at 7:50 a.m. MT. The men will then compete in an 8k which commences at 8:30 a.m. MT.

Concluding Boise State's participation in the Notre Dame Invitational, both the men's and women's teams will partake in the Open Division (women-5k, men-8k) at 9:10 a.m. MT.

NOTABLES
  • Head Coach Pat McCurry is in his second season at the helm of Boise State's cross country program. He previously served as an assistant with the Broncos from 2016-18, and also was the head coach at College of Idaho and San Francisco.
  • This event marks the second-consecutive year the Broncos have participated in the Joe Piane Invitational.
  • Last year, the women's team placed three athletes in the top 50, including Kaiya Robertson who finished sixth.
  • Boise State finished above No. 25 Michigan State in last year's event. It was the first time the Broncos defeated a ranked opponent since 2023 at the Roy Griak Invitational (Minnesota).
  • The Broncos will compete against Notre Dame, whose men's and women's teams are ranked No. 9 and No. 10, respectively.
