Anderson, Wolden Earn Bid to AVCA National Pairs Championship

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – For the second consecutive season, Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden earned Boise State an additional bid to the AVCA National Pairs Championship.

With the additional bid, the Broncos will now send two of their pairs to the three-day championship event, which takes place Nov. 7-9 in Huntsville, Ala.

The duo earned the bid following its performance Surf City Collegiate Challenge, where the tandem finished 2-1 in pool play of the AVCA Bid Division on day one. The pair lost to duos from Florida State and UCLA in the Silver Playoff Bracket, but their finish was high enough to secure the Broncos an additional bid.

The result marks the second time the duo has earned a bid for the Broncos, following last year's outright win of the Spokane AVCA Pairs Tournament. Anderson and Wolden were one of two Boise State duos that traveled to the AVCA National Pairs Championship and finished in 25th place, the highest finish in program history.

Elsewhere at the two-day tournament, Allyson Alden and Avery Allen finished in sixth place in the Bronze Playoffs of the AVCA Bid Division, falling to Telia Allen and Maya May Brown of Washington in three sets. Susannah Barnett and Nora Hayd finished 4-0 to secure a spot in the College A Division Gold Playoff Championship before falling to USF's Ariana Medchill and Emma Kate Stewart. Summer McCann and Elli Wolthuis fell to the same Bulls' duo in the semifinal round of the bracket but defeated Long Beach State's Arianna Lonardi and Keely McIlroy in straight sets to secure a third-place finish.
