Simmons Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State's Aayden Simmons was named the Mountain West Men's Track and Field Freshman of the Week, the conference announced, Tuesday.
The award is the first weekly honor in Simmons' collegiate career. Dating back to the 2021-22 indoor track and field season, Simmons is the second Boise State freshman to earn a Mountain West weekly award, joining Ahmed Ibrahim who garnered the distinction on Feb. 1, 2022.
In his first collegiate action, the Helena, Montana native recorded two event wins at the 2025 Spokane Indoor Showcase. He began the meet with a win in the high jump (2.15m) and followed the performance with a top finish in the triple jump (15.03m).
Simmons and the Broncos will next compete in the Nevada Invitational, a two-day event taking place in Reno from Jan. 16-17.
