Broncos Sweep Event Titles in Season-High Night

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State swept the event titles in ExtraMile Arena as it outscored San Jose State 196.425-194.300, Friday night.
 
The Broncos picked up a total of six event titles. Sydney Kho and Emily Lopez earned a share of the vault title, Lopez was named bars champion, Kristina Shchennikova notched the beam title and Bridget Kemp and Blake Pascal shared the floor crown.
 
Boise State started off on vault and scored a 48.775. The team was led by Sydney Kho and Emily Lopez, both scoring a 9.800.
 
On bars, the Broncos put up two scores above a 9.900. Shchennikova scored a 9.900, which was followed by a 9.950 by Lopez. The team scored a 49.375 on the apparatus.
 
The Blue and Orange moved to beam next, scoring a 49.175. Shchennikova put up another 9.900 to lead the Broncos in the event.
 
Boise State finished on floor being led by Kemp and Pascal with a 9.800 each. The Broncos scored a 49.100 to bring their overall score to a 196.425.
 
Top Broncos
  • Sydney Kho and Emily Lopez both scored a 9.800 to share the vault title. This marks the first event crown of Kho's career. Lopez has two vault wins this season and 10 in her career, tying her for sixth in program history.
  • Lopez also claimed the bars championship, scoring a season-high 9.950. The fifth year has four wins on the apparatus this season and 17 in her career.
  • Kristina Shchennikova won the beam title for the second-straight meet, tallying another 9.900.
  • Bridget Kemp and Blake Pascal were crowned co-champions on floor, scoring 9.850. This was the second floor event title of the year for both gymnasts and the fourth title of Pascal's career.

  • The Broncos will travel to Logan, Utah, to face Utah State on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. The meet will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
