Love Uzoekwe Named Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Love Uzoekwe was named the Mountain West Women's Track & Field Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Uzoekwe earned the honor following her performance in the long jump, triple jump and 60-meter dash at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. In the 60m, Uzoekwe's 7.53 set the third fastest mark in Boise State history. She finished first in her heat and recorded the 11th-fastest time in the MW this season.

The Portland, Oregon, native also won her flight in both the long and triple jump. Her 12.19m triple jump is the seventh-best in the MW, and the best for any freshman in the MW this season.

This is the Broncos' first MW weekly award since Hanna Ackermann earned freshman honors April 16, 2024.

Boise State will next compete at the Mountain West Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., Feb. 27-March 1.
