ST. GEORGE, Utah – Boise State hit five home runs, Saturday in defeating UC San Diego, 10-7 and Weber State, 11-3 in six innings.

The Broncos (12-3) are 4-0 at the Lyman Classic and have won six-straight overall.

"We did not start fast in either game today, but we showed some resiliency and found ways to win without playing our best softball," head coach Justin Shults said.

Boise State trailed UCSD 4-1 before taking control of the game with a five-run fourth.

Sophia Knight led off the inning with a single and Mykenzie Hanna walked. Makenzie Butt followed with an opposite-field, three-run home run to tie the game 4-4. Keely Gousha gave the Broncos the lead with a sacrifice fly and an error by the Tritons (2-10) allowed another run to come home.

Boise State added two runs in the fifth on a home run by Brooklynn Pettis and scored twice in the sixth on an RBI-single by Knight and a sacrifice fly by Hanna.

Brook Thompson improved to 5-0 with two innings of relief work. The senior entered the season with four-career wins.

The Broncos spotted the Wildcats (3-10) a 2-0 lead before posting a run-rule victory.

Chloe Hughes got Boise State on the board with an RBI-double in the second and Butt tied the game with a solo home run in the third.

Hughes put the Broncos on top with an RBI-single in the fourth. Two batters later, Hanna drove in two runs with a double and Butt capped the rally with an RBI-single for a 6-2 lead.

Boise State finished the game in the sixth when Leah McAnally led off the frame with a home run and Pettis blasted a grand slam to earn the run-rule victory.

Abby Dowell (4-1) recorded the final-seven outs in the circle for her third win of the tournament.

Boise State will play San Diego at 9:30 a.m., Sunday.
