BOISE, Idaho — Tyson Degenhart and Pearson Carmichael have been named Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively, the conference announced on Monday.

Degenhart and Carmichael played pivotal roles in helping Boise State secure consecutive wins against two top 75 teams in the NCAA's NET rankings. The Broncos defeated New Mexico, 86-78, at home on Feb. 19, and followed that performance by beating Nevada, 70-69, on the road on Feb. 22.

Claiming player of the week accolades for the second time this year, Degenhart is the first Bronco since Derrick Alston Jr. (2020-21) to garner the distinction multiple times in the same season. He is the fifth player in program history to accomplish the feat, joining Derrick Marks (3x, 2012-13; 4x, 2014-15), James Webb III (3x, 2015-16), Chandler Hutchison (3x, 2017-18) and Alston Jr.

Carmichael is the second Bronco to take home freshman of the week honors since Boise State joined the Mountain West. Degenhart won it nine times during the 2021-22 season which is tied (JT Toppin, New Mexico) for the most in the Mountain West since the award's inception.

Against New Mexico, the duo combined for 53 points, with each player setting individual career highs. Recording his first career 30-point game, Degenhart totaled a game-high 32 points, while Carmichael tallied 21 in his first career start.

The performance marked the first time in nearly a year (March 2, 2024 vs. New Mexico) that two players scored 20 points apiece for Boise State in the same game. Additionally, Carmichael became the first Broncos freshman since Degenhart (2021-22) to score 20 in a single contest.

With the conference's second-highest scoring average this season, Degenhart has started all 27 games, averaging 18.2 points and 6.1 rebounds on 51.5 percent shooting from the field. Starting the year as a redshirt, Carmichael has appeared in 12 games (two starts) and recorded 5.8 points while shooting nearly 40 percent from behind the arc.
