Broncos Suffer Road Loss to Nevada

RENO, Nev. –  Boise State women's basketball dropped its second-straight road contest, falling to Nevada 69-61 on Wednesday night at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Wolf Pack (10-14, 5-6 Mountain West), who trailed by eight at halftime, outscored the Broncos (15-9, 5-6 MW) 44-28 in the second half. Nevada shot 48.3% from the field in the final half, compared to an 31.0% shooting performance from the Blue and Orange.
Four Broncos scored in double figures in the loss. Dani Bayes, Natalie Pasco and Tatum Thompson netted 13 points each, while Elodie Lalotte chipped in 12 points.
Boise State spread the offense around in the opening quarter, with five different Broncos scoring in the opening frame as the squad held a 15-13 lead after the first quarter of play. Thompson and Bayes came out in the second quarter on fire, combining to score nine of the Broncos' first 12 points of the frame to take a 27-23 lead midway through the period. Boise State locked in defensively, holding the Wolf Pack scoreless for the final five minutes of the half to hold a 33-25 halftime advantage.
Nevada came out of the locker room with a 7-0 run in the first three minutes of action to cut the Bronco lead to one. Lalotte and Bayes answered the call, combining for seven points to give Boise State a 40-36 advantage midway through the period. The Broncos extended their lead to six in the final minute of the stanza, but a Wolf Pack 3-pointer at the buzzer cut the lead to 48-45 heading into the final frame.
Nevada tied the game at 48 on the opening possession with a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Pasco injected some life into the Bronco offense, finding Abby Muse for an old-fashioned 3-point play and then hitting a jumper on the next possession to give Boise State a two-point lead. Nevada responded with yet another 7-0 run to snag a 58-53 lead with 4:04 remaining.
The Wolf Pack extended the lead to seven with just over three minutes remaining. Boise State failed to convert on its next three offensive possessions and were forced to begin fouling. Nevada made five of its six free throw attempts down the stretch to claim the victory.Â
