EUGENE, Ore. — Cole Rueck fired a 212 (-1) and notched a tie for 14th as Boise State collectively finished 11th in the Oregon Duck Invitational.
"This was a week of 'what-ifs,'" said Head Coach David Trainor. "We did not putt well overall, and if we would have putted like we normally putt, I would have loved to see where we would have finished. All of our guys contributed this week, but we just couldn't get the putts to drop."
Rising two spots on the second and final day of the tournament, the Broncos shot 867 (+15) as a team. Across the final two rounds, Boise State shot 6-over after posting a 293 (+9) in the opening 18 holes.
Individually, Rueck completed the first two rounds in 71 strokes and was even at the conclusion of Day 1. He carded a 70 in Round 3 and was one-of-17 golfers—including individuals—to shoot under par in the invitational.
After recording a 77 (+6) in the first round, Luke Cushman produced a strong finish. He totaled a 71 in each of the final two rounds and rose 13 spots from Day 1 to Day 2.
Boise State will have a week off before returning to action on April 7-8. The team will compete in the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Intercollegiate at Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta, Calif.
