#29 Broncos Travel to #21 Southern Utah

  • THE MEET: No. 29 Boise State will travel to Cedar City, Utah, to face No. 21 Southern Utah on Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m.
  • SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS: Southern Utah enters the meet ranked 21st nationally as a team with an 11-4 record. The Thunderbirds rank 20th on vault, 29th on bars, 32nd on beam and 19th on floor in the RoadToNationals event rankings. The Broncos lead the all-time series, 49-30.
  • IN THE RANKINGS: Boise State is No. 29 in the RoadToNationals team rankings with an NQS score of 195.845, improving its previous score. The Broncos are No. 21 in the bars rankings, boasting a 49.160 NQS score, the highest of any non-power 4 opponent. The team is also in the beam rankings at No. 27 with an NQS score of 48.985.
  • REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS: The Broncos earned the Mountain West regular season championship after defeating Air Force on Feb. 28. Boise State rounded out conference competition with a 5-1 record.
  • BARS QUEEN: Emily Lopez is tied for 20th nationally in the RoadToNationals individual rankings with an NQS score of 9.895. She ranks first in the Mountain West and sixth in the west region.
  • EVENT CHAMPIONS: Lopez was named the vault and bars champion at the meet against Air Force (Feb. 28), scoring a 9.900 and 9.25 respectively. The fifth year now has 11 career titles on vault and 18 career titles on bars. Emma Loyim took home the beam title with a 9.925, marking the sixth of her career.
  • TWO FOR ONE: Lopez picked up MW Vault and Bars Specialist of the Week after her performance against Air Force (Feb. 28). She now holds 16 MW specialist of the week honors.
  • BEAM SPECIALIST: Loyim earned her seventh MW weekly accolade after being named Beam Specialist of the Week following her performance against Air Force (Feb. 28).
  • FRESHIE MAGIC: Kristina Shchennikova secured her fourth freshman of the week honor, bringing her MW weekly award account to six. She recorded the second-highest score on bars for the Broncos, putting up a 9.875. Shchennikova has also picked up three of her freshman of the week accolades in the past four weeks.
  • HOME SWEET HOME: Boise State is the only team in the Mountain West undefeated at home. The Broncos boast a 4-0 home record on the season.
  • UP AND UP: The Broncos recorded a season-high on vault with a 49.200. This is also the highest vault score in the Mountain West this season.
  • RECORD WATCH: Lopez earned her 18th-career bars win at the quad meet in San Jose (Jan. 26), putting her in sole possession of third all-time for bars victories in program history. She now sits behind Emily Mulenhaupt (2018-22) in first with 22 wins and Lindsay Ward (2004-08) in second with 20.
  • PRESEASON EXPECTATIONS: Boise State came in at No. 33 in the 2025 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Poll, the 14th time since 2010 that the Broncos have earned a preseason national ranking. The Blue and Orange received 341 points and were the only team in the Mountain West to place in the top 36.
