Cole Rueck Posts Top-7 Finish in Conference Championship for Second Consecutive Year
CRESWELL, Ore. — Shooting a collective 855 (-9), Boise State men's golf finished seventh in the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship.
Totaling par at the end of Round 1, the Broncos rose two spots across the final two days. The team fired a 283 and 284 on Saturday and Sunday and surpassed Nevada (856, -8) and Fresno State (857, -7) in the process.
With 11 collegiate institutions representing the Mountain West, five entered the championship ranked in the top 100 nationally. San Diego State, leading the way at No. 16, won the conference tournament for the fourth-straight year.
Recording a cumulative score of 810, the Aztecs shot 54-under and won the 2025 championship by 23 strokes. San Diego State is just the second Mountain West school (New Mexico, 2003-06) to claim victory in four-straight conference tournaments.
Led by Cole Rueck, who was the conference's 2024 individual champion, two Broncos posted top-25 finishes. Rueck bested last year's performance, registering a 206 (-10).
Firing a 68 in each of the first two rounds followed by a 70 on Day 3, Rueck concluded the tournament in seventh place. He was the only Bronco to shoot under par in all three rounds.
Rueck's seventh-place finish marked his fifth top-10 finish this year. He won the Genesis Collegiate Showcase and Loyola Intercollegiate while ending the Oregon State Invitational and Bandon Dunes Collegiate tied for fourth and eighth, respectively.
Additionally, he won the Second Annual Battle of Idaho, featuring Boise State and the University of Idaho.
Ryan Meyer collected the third top-25 finish of his career, posting a 214 (-2). Concluding the tournament tied for 23rd, Meyer rebounded from a 75 in Round 1 and was 5-under in the final 36 holes.
Prior to the 2025 Mountain West Championship, Meyer tied for sixth in the Lake Las Vegas Invitational this season. He also tied for 19th in the Oregon State Invitational during his junior campaign.
Freshman Reese Knox ended his first Mountain West Championship with a 216 and was even par. Gavyn Knight and Luke Cushman were plus-7 and plus-10.
With the regular season and conference tournament in the rearview mirror, Boise State will wait and see if it has any representation in the NCAA Regional Championships taking place May 12-14. A season ago, Rueck shot a 210 (even) and tied for 28th.
