
Four Broncos Earn Academic Honors

BOISE, Idaho – Four Boise State women's tennis players were named to the College Sports Communicators 2024-25 Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday. Ariadna Briones Ginesta, Ryan Kershner, Zdena Safarova and Bhakti Shah were all recognized.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must play in 70% or more of the team's spring competitions and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better.
Briones Ginesta, a business administration major, earned the honor for the second consecutive season after posting a cumulative GPA of 3.67. The senior ended the year with a 12-4 mark (4-1 in Mountain West play) in duals on the year in singles. She played a majority of time at the No. 5 position, where she finished 8-3.
Kershner, a health studies major with a 3.89 GPA, competed in 20 doubles' matches for the Blue and Orange. The Phoenix, Ariz., native posted a 9-11 record in the spring, including a 7-10 mark from the No. 2 court.
Safarova, the MVP of the MW Tournament, ended the year with a 3.76 cumulative GPA. The sociology major had one of the best seasons in program history, boasting a 21-2 record in duals – all from the No. 1 court. A MW First-Team selection, Safarova's prowess also shined on the doubles court, where the sophomore generated a 15-7 mark in the spring.
Shah, who graduated on Saturday with 3.79 cumulative GPA and a business administration degree, earned the award for the first time in her career. Shah was a critical piece to the Broncos' success this season, posting a 14-4 doubles record in the spring. She also finished 11-9 in singles duals.
