BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's tennis has signed Tereza Polakova to its 2025-26 roster, head coach Beck Roghaar announced, Wednesday.
After two seasons at Kansas State, Polakova is headed to the Treasure Valley with valuable experience in the highly competitive Big 12 Conference, which sent seven teams to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship a season ago. During her time in Manhattan, Kansas, Polakova picked up 32 singles victories and 25 doubles wins. She helped the Wildcats to a win over No. 55 BYU, clinching the match with a three set victory, and also picked up back-to-back doubles wins during the Big 12 Championship tournament.
Over her collegiate career, Polakova has maintained a 65.5% win percentage in dual matches and a 56.8% winning mark against Power 4 opponents. She currently holds a 9.44 UTR in doubles and reached a 10.00 UTR in singles within the past year.
In fall 2024, Polakova appeared in the ITA Conference Masters Tournament in doubles, advancing to the round of 16. The Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic, native also defeated the 2024-25 ITA national preseason No. 1 doubles team at the ITA Central Region tournament with partner Veronika Kulhava, and competed in singles at the ITA All-American Championships, where she earned a three set victory.
Before her time at Kansas State, Polakova was active on the ITF junior circuit, posting a 20-8 singles record in 2022. She also claimed the singles title at the ITF J5 Prague tournament and won the doubles crown at the ITF J5 Liberec event.
What Roghaar Says:
"Tereza is an incredible addition to our program that will make a massive impact right away. Her results over the last two years in both singles and doubles have shown she is among the best in college tennis and she's going to thrive here in our environment."
"Tereza is an elite athlete. She plays an extremely physical, all-court game and can beat you in so many ways. She's such a tough and relentless competitor. Her poise in big moments is something she brings to the table that separates her as an elite player, and she has an impressive skill-set, starting with her serve. Tereza is great in both singles and doubles and we can't wait to get to work."
This is the second consecutive season that head coach Beck Roghaar has added a Big 12 transfer, following the addition of Zdena Safarova for the 2024-25 season.
What Polakova Says:
"I am excited to be part of a great team with a positive mindset and energy. Coach Beck is a really supportive coach and a person that helps the team and girls become the best version of themselves."
"I like to get better each game and love the feeling of accomplishment after hard work and winning. I have a hard first serve and forehand, stay calm in every situation, and fight for every point."
