TEMPE, Ariz. – Boise State men's tennis had two members, Lukas Velik and Daniel Hangstefer, of the program honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with postseason regional awards.

Lukas Velik, a freshman from Prague, Czechia, has been named the ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year after his debut season in the Blue and Orange. Velik is the seventh Bronco all-time to earn the ITA Rookie of the Year recognition and the first since Kyle Butters in 2016. Velik won a combined 26 matches this past year, including going 22-17 in singles play and 9-5 at the No. 3 position in team duals.

Daniel Hangstefer, the associate head coach, has been named the ITA Mountain Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Hangstefer, in his second year with the Broncos, is the fourth Bronco assistant coach to receive this recognition all-time.

He helped guide Boise State to a 21-6 record this season and a perfect 6-0 Mountain West mark on the way to a second straight regular season championship and berth in the NCAA tournament. It is the second time in his career that he has been named an ITA regional assistant coach of the year, also earning the honor in 2013 while at Midwestern State University (Texas).
