BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Esports kept its undefeated record alive Monday night, sweeping San Jose State University 3-0 in a Rocket League series that renewed last year's grand finals rivalry.
The Broncos wasted no time in Game 1, striking quickly on offense. Cade Hall (Wuzy) opened with a statement performance, recording a hat trick within the first minutes. San Jose State tightened its defense late, but the early damage carried Boise State to a 4-1 win.
Game 2 started slower as the Spartans showed stronger defensive organization, trying to keep the Broncos off the board. Once Boise State broke through though, momentum swung hard in their favor. Emiliano Flores (Durtho) punctuated the rally with an acrobatic upside-down reverse shot, and the Broncos pulled away for a decisive 6-1 victory.
Game 3 saw the closest contest of the night. Boise State built an early lead, but San Jose capitalized on missteps in the Broncos' rotations to even the score 3-3 late. The match extended into overtime, where Gabriel Reynolds (Gil) — typically known for his defensive play — delivered. Gil completed a hat trick and sealed the 4-3 win with the golden goal, closing the sweep.
The win keeps Boise State in first place in the Mountain West, and keeps their hopes for a fifth straight Mountain West Championship alive. Gil made his first appearance for the Broncos this season in the win, and the seasoned veteran was instrumental to the Broncos' victory.
