PROVO, Utah – Freshman Miraya Nero captured the all-around crown on Friday night, as Boise State lost to BYU, 196.300-195.025. Her score of 39.075 edged BYU junior Ava Jorgensen, who tallied a 39.050. Nero finished fourth or better in three events, including beam, where she tied for second with a score of 9.825. The Nebraska native is the first Bronco freshman to win an all-around title since Courtney McGregor, who did so on Feb. 17, 2017.

Boise State opened with the same bars lineup as last week, improving its team score to 48.825. Four Broncos recorded a higher score than last meet, including senior Kylee Hamby, who earned a 9.850 to place second on the apparatus. Nero and sophomore Bridget Kemp led the Blue and Orange to a 48.675 on vault, tying for fourth at 9.775 apiece.

The Broncos were stellar on floor, tallying a 48.975, their highest score in any rotation this year. The duo tied for fourth and were backed by senior Anna Ferguson, who tallied a 9.800. Nero paced the Broncos and secured her all-around title on beam, tying for second at 9.825.

We improved our overall team score along with our bars and floor scores, which shows the progress we are making each week," said head coach Tina Bird. "We are especially excited for Miraya Nero earning her first all-around win as a freshman. Standout performances from Kylee Hamby on bars, Miraya on beam and Anna Ferguson and Blake Pascal on floor were key in helping us achieve that overall improvement."
