Boise State Notches Sixth-Straight Win

1/24/2026 3:34:00 PM | Women's Basketball

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Boise State women's basketball defeated Grand Canyon 75-65 Saturday afternoon at Global Credit Union Arena.

The Broncos improved to 16-5 overall and 7-3 in Mountain West play, extending their winning streak to six games and their road streak to three.

Boise State jumped out early as Mya Hansen opened the scoring with a jumper before knocking down two 3-pointers to start off with an 8-0 run. Grand Canyon (6-14, 5-5 MW) got on the board at the 7:39 mark with a Chloe Mann layup. Dani Bayes answered with a triple, but the Lopes responded with a 12-0 run highlighted by a 3-pointer from Ale'Jah Douglas to take a 16-15 lead.

Tatum Thompson reclaimed the lead for Boise State with a steal and layup, but Grand Canyon countered with an and-one from Douglas. Kenna Garza tied the game at 19-19 before Norah Moo sank two free throws to put the Lopes back in front. Boise State went scoreless for the final three minutes of the quarter and Grand Canyon carried a 24-19 advantage into the second.

The second quarter opened slowly with the first field goal coming at 7:55 on another Douglas layup. Freshman Jayda Lewis scored the Broncos' first bucket of the quarter at the 7:24 mark, also on a layup. Lewis later cut the deficit to one at 32-31, but Moo responded with a jumper. Bayes scored four points down the stretch, though Grand Canyon maintained a slim 36-35 lead heading into halftime.

Boise State came out strong in the third quarter. After Julianna LaMendola opened the half at the free throw line, Natalie Pasco drained a 3-pointer to give the Broncos the lead. Thompson followed with a jumper, and despite a response from Sifa Joyeuse at the line, Boise State surged ahead with a 9-0 run that held the Lopes scoreless for nearly three minutes. Garza answered a LaMendola layup, and another Grand Canyon drought allowed Boise State to improve to a 58-48 lead entering the fourth.

Bayes opened the final quarter with a layup before Moo answered with her own. Mason Borcherding scored her first points of the game, and Bayes later knocked down a 3-pointer as Thompson continued to put points on the board with a jumper. Douglas trimmed the deficit with a triple, but Boise State maintained control as the Broncos took a 75-65 victory.
