COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State track and field athlete Landon Helms has been named Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week following a record-breaking performance in the heptathlon.

Competing in his first multi of the 2026 indoor season, Helms posted the highest heptathlon score in Boise State history with 5,776 points. He claimed the top spot in the event, and finished first in more than half of the seven events while setting a personal best in the high jump.

Helms' score surpassed the previous school record held by two-time Olympian Kurt Felix, which stood since 2012. The mark currently ranks 13th nationally, leads the MW by more than 200 points, and is the second highest in conference history.

Helms has now set school records in both the indoor pole vault and heptathlon this season.
