Sixth-year senior is looking for donors to pledge for every ace, block
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State beach volleyball student-athlete Allyson Alden is launching a fundraiser for those in the community to donate to BroncoBOLD.
The fundraiser, named "Allyson Alden's Block Party," will ask for donors to pledge a set dollar amount for every ace or block that Alden records during the 2026 season. All donations will go to BroncoBOLD. Those interested in joining Alden's Block Party can sign up here.
"I'm extremely excited to launch this fundraiser centered around mental health, a subject I deeply care about," Alden said. "I've struggled with mental health for most of my life, and I want young people and athletes to see real examples of resilience. Access to support and resources can truly change the trajectory of someone's story. BroncoBOLD helps provide those resources and helps break down the stigma around mental health."
Alden is particularly passionate about BroncoBOLD's High School Ambassador Program. The program, one of the key initiatives of the organization, was created to empower students to become mental health leaders in their own schools. The program is supported by Boise State student-athletes, trained professionals and community partners and currently serves 16 high schools across Southern Idaho and impacts over 22,000 students annually.
Each participating school designates student ambassadors who receive leadership skills, prevention training, direct funding for school-based initiatives, ongoing mentorship and support and access to evidence-informed resources.
Alden was inspired by similar campaigns led by Boise State student-athletes Kage Casey (football) and Kenzie McMillan (soccer). She was also inspired by her teammate Lily Patock, who serves on the BroncoBOLD leadership committee.
A year ago, Alden recorded 96 blocks and 67 aces in her first season with the Broncos after transferring from MiraCosta College. The San Marcos, Calif., native was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned first team all-conference honors from the No. 2 position. She finished the season with a 21-10 record – including three wins over ranked opponents – and led Boise State to its first conference championship and NCAA National Tournament appearance in program history.
Alden is no stranger to overcoming adversity. Following her first collegiate season competing on San Jose State's indoor and beach volleyball team in 2021, Alden suffered a significant leg injury that kept her out of competition for two and a half years. Initially believing her career to be over, Alden worked her way back to the beach game at MiraCosta College before transferring to Boise State prior to the 2024-25 campaign.
Alden and the beach volleyball program will kick off their inaugural season in the Big 12 at the Beach Burrow Bash in Boca Raton, Fla., on Feb. 20. Boise State will host two weekends of home competition this season, including the Boise State Classic (April 3-4) and the Boise State Beach Bash (April 10-11).
