LARAMIE, Wyo. – Boise State secured a 56-54 victory over Wyoming on Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos (20-6, 11-4 Mountain West) were paced by sophomore Libby Hutton, earning their first win over the Cowgirls in Laramie, Wyoming, (9-16, 6-10) since 2018.

Wyoming won the opening tip but did not score until the 7:45 mark, when Malene Pedersen knocked down a jumper. Boise State answered at 6:47 with Hutton's first basket of the afternoon. Pedersen added a triple, but Hutton responded with another jumper to keep it close. Henna Sandvik extended the Cowgirls' lead to 9-4 with a layup.

Morgan Maldonado sparked the Broncos with a steal that led to a Natalie Pasco jumper. Pasco then buried a three to give Boise State its first lead at 10-9. The advantage changed teams three more times before Tatum Thompson closed the quarter on a 6-0 run, helping the Broncos carry a 19-16 lead into the second quarter.

Sandvik opened the second quarter with a jumper and a 3-pointer to put Wyoming back in front, 21-19. The Cowgirls went nearly four minutes without scoring until Sandvik drove to the rim at the 4:39 mark.

The Broncos hit a brief scoring drought before Hutton converted a jumper and a layup. Logan Alvar finished inside for Wyoming, but Jayda Lewis countered with a layup of her own. A three from Rumpf cut the deficit to 31-28 with 1:34 remaining in the half. Sandvik's late jumper trimmed it to one and Boise State took a narrow 31-30 lead into the break.

Hutton opened the third quarter with two made free throws, though Alvar quickly answered at the rim. Payton Muma drained a three to give Wyoming a 35-34 advantage. Tatum Thompson converted an and-one to give the lead back to Boise State, but Pedersen responded from beyond the arc to pull the Cowgirls within one.

Wyoming endured another scoring drought of more than three minutes before Lana Beslic scored inside to take a 42-41 lead. Boise State then went cold for nearly four minutes before surging on an 8-0 run. Borcherding completed an and-one, and freshman Kenna Garza added two free throws to push the Broncos' lead to 49-42, their largest of the game, entering the fourth.

Alvar made two free throws early in the final quarter and Rumpf's 3-pointer cut the margin to 49-47 with 8:59 to play. Hutton hit a layup at 5:48 to notch Boise State's first field goal of the fourth quarter. Beslic and Sandvik combined for four-straight points to give Wyoming a 52-51 edge, then Pedersen added a putback to extend the Cowgirls' lead to 54-51.
