STANFORD, Calif. – Boise State came within one strike of beating No. 10 Stanford for the second straight day, but the Cardinal scored three times with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Broncos 3-2, Sunday.

The Broncos (8-8) did not have a base runner until a two-out walk by pinch hitter Jorja Crider in the sixth. Olivia Bauer, Loula-Rae McNamara and Julianne Rose combined to keep Stanford (9-4) off the board through six innings.

In the seventh, Mya Flindt led off with a single to break up the Cardinal's no-hit bid. Pinch runner Grace Peffley took second on a wild pitch and moved to third on sacrifice by Quinn Southerland. Marissa Gonzalez then ripped a double down the left field line to score Peffley with the first run of the game.

An error allowed pinch runner Sophia Romero to score and the Broncos took a 2-0 lead.

Rose retired two of the first three batters, but issued a walk to put the tying run on base and fell behind 2-0 to the next batter. Bauer reentered the circle and threw two pitches out of the strike zone to load the bases.

A single on a 3-2 pitch tied the game before an intentional walk reloaded the bases. Stanford followed with another single to escape with the win.

NOTES

Mya Flindt broke up a no-bid in the sixth inning or later for the second straight game.
Loula-Rae McNamara made her team-leading 15th appearance of the season.
