FULLERTON, Calif. – Charley Duran decided to finish what she started, Sunday.
 
The freshman right-hander went four-plus innings in her first-career start in the circle and left with the lead. She reentered the game in the seventh, recorded six more outs and earned the victory as Boise State (4-2) knocked off Cal State Fullerton (3-3) 4-1 in eight innings.
 
Overall, Duran (2-0) gave up one run on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts in six innings of work.
 
The Broncos scored three runs with two outs in the eighth. Quinn Southerland drove home the game-winning run with a double and Boise State added insurance courtesy of RBI-singles by Marissa Gonzalez and Hollie Farmer.
 
NOTES
  • The win by Boise State was its first in 11 tries all-time against Cal State Fullerton.
  • The Broncos scored all four runs with two outs, Sunday and have scored 20 runs with two outs this season.
  • Boise State has scored 37 of its 46 runs in the fifth inning or later.
  • Freshmen pitchers Kodi Crabtree, Charley Duran and Loula-Rae McNamara combined to go 4-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 28 innings over the six-game season-opening road trip.
