Soderqvist Earns Freshman of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Filip Soderqvist has been named the Mountain West Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

Soderqvist earned the honor after going undefeated in singles and doubles as the Broncos won the Boise State Spring Invitational. The team defeated nationally-ranked No. 56 BYU to claim the title.

The freshman picked up a dominant 6-2, 6-3 win over Idaho State's Luka Vujacic at the three spot in singles. In doubles play, Soderqvist and partner Stewart Aronson defeated BYU pair Tygen Goldammer and TJ Wells 6-1 on court two.

The honor marks the second weekly award of Soderqvist's career and Boise State's second of the season.

No. 61 Boise State will host No. 38 Santa Clara, No. 72 Cal Poly, DePaul and Montana State March 13-14 at Appleton Tennis Center.
