Safarova Earns Conference Honor for Second Consecutive Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the second consecutive week, Boise State women's tennis player Zdena Safarova was named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.

The award marks Safarova's sixth career MW weekly honor and her second of the 2026 season. The junior holds the most MW Player of the Week awards among active players.

Safarova helped lead Boise State to a 2-0 weekend, posting two wins at No. 1 singles and an additional victory at No. 1 doubles.

The Prague, Czech Republic, native dominated at the top singles spot, defeating Grand Canyon's Bella Crossman 6-0, 6-4, and San Diego State's Jo-Yee Chan 6-1, 6-4.

Safarova teamed with partner Tereza Polakova in doubles against Grand Canyon, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to force a tiebreak and winning it 7-4 to clinch the doubles point.

The victories were her sixth and seventh consecutive at No. 1 singles, along with four wins in her last five matches at No. 1 doubles.

The Broncos, who are on an 11-match winning streak, will return to the Appleton Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Nevada on March 27 at 11 a.m. MT and UNLV on March 29 at 11 a.m. MT.
