Soderqvist Claims Third Freshman of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Filip Soderqvist has been named Mountain West Men's Tennis Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

Soderqvist earned the honor after going undefeated in both singles and doubles in Boise State's matchup against Utah State on April 11, making him the only Bronco to accomplish the feat.

In doubles play, the freshman, with partner Stewart Aronson, secured a 6-4 victory over Jean-Baptiste Badon and Dmitri Goubin on court two to clinch the doubles point. He followed with Boise State's lone singles point, defeating Jakub Medved 6-3, 6-1 on court five.

The singles win marked Soderqvist's fourth-consecutive victory, the longest active streak on the team.

This recognition is the third weekly honor of Soderqvist's career and the most freshman honors by a Bronco in a single season since 2022, when Pedro Liborio earned five.

No. 69 Boise State will close out the regular season against No. 70 UNLV on April 18 at 11 a.m. MT at Appleton Tennis Center. The match will be followed by a ceremony honoring the Broncos' seniors.
