Broncos Host Vandals in Third-Annual Battle of Idaho

WHAT'S NEXT:Â In the final competition before the 2026 Mountain West Championship, Boise State men's golf is set to host the University of Idaho, its in-state rival, in the third-annual Battle of Idaho. Taking place at Hillcrest Country Club, the 54-hole duel will span two days from April 20-21.

COURSE LAYOUT:Â Host of the Boise Open, Hillcrest Country Club is par-71 and 6,810 yards.

FORMAT | TEE TIMES:Â In a six count four format, both teams will play 36 holes on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m. MT. The final round will be played on Tuesday and will commence at the same time.

BATTLE OF IDAHO:Â Beginning in 2024, the Broncos and Vandals have competed against one another in a two-team duel, with each institution winning once. Idaho won the inaugural Battle of Idaho in 2024 by 10 strokes, while Boise State claimed victory a year ago. Cole Rueck and Joey Sykes were co-champions in Year 1, while Rueck won the event outright last April.

LAST TIME OUT:Â In the team's final tournament of the spring, Boise State shot an 869 (+5) and placed third in the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate. Three Broncos finished in the top-10, including Rueck who tied for second and Reese Knox, who placed 10th, tying for the highest finish in his collegiate career.

80+:Â After posting a 39-99-2 record in 2023-24, Boise State has registered 80+ wins in back-to-back years. The Broncos ended the 2024-25 season with an 88-63-3 mark and defeated 81 teams during the 2025-26 campaign. In that span, Boise State has won three team tournaments and notched eight top-three finishes.

TIME TO TURN PRO:Â Finishing tied for second in the 2026 PGA Tour Americas Q-School and earning full membership for the season, Cole Rueck elected to begin his professional career. He departs Boise State with eight tournament titles and 17 top 10s (second most in program history).

NEXT MAN UP:Â With eight scholarship golfers remaining on the roster, head coach David Trainor has preached next man up. The team has six golfers who have combined for 28 top-25 finishes in their careers.
