Filip Soderqvist Named ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year

BOISE, Idaho – Filip Soderqvist earned Mountain Region Rookie of the Year, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday.Â
In his debut season, Soderqvist picked up three freshman of the week honors awarded by the Mountain West. The freshman from Norrtalje, Sweden recorded a total of 43 wins this past season, including a 23-15 mark in singles play and a 20-13 record in doubles.Â
In the fall, Soderqvist made a singles appearance in the round of 16 at the MW Qualifiers, and made a quarterfinals doubles appearance at the MW Fall Qualifiers. Following the fall season, the freshman was the only Bronco to compete in all 31 spring matches and tallied a perfect 4-0 record in singles conference play.Â
Soderqvist is the second-consecutive Bronco to secure the ITA Regional Rookie of the Year honor, and the eighth to receive this recognition all-time.Â
