Broncos to Host Boise State Classic in ExtraMile Arena

WHAT'S NEXT
Boise State volleyball will welcome North Dakota State, UNLV and Idaho State to ExtraMile Arena for the annual Boise State Classic tournament Sept. 3-5. 

THE SCHEDULE 
The Broncos (1-2) will face North Dakota State (2-0) on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. MT. On Friday, the Blue and Orange will play UNLV (0-2) at 6 p.m. MT. To close out the tournament, the Broncos will take on Idaho State (2-1) on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 1 p.m. MT. 

HOW TO FOLLOW THE ACTION
All Boise State matches will be streamed on the Pac-12 YouTube and all contests will feature live scoring.


BOISE STATE VERSUS THE FIELD
The Broncos lead the overall series against North Dakota State 2-0. This will be the first time the two teams meet since 2017. The contest against UNLV will mark the 32nd time the two teams meet. Boise State leads the overall (18-13) and home series (8-4) versus the Rebels. Against Idaho State, the Blue and Orange leads the all-time series 39-34 and home series 23-31. 

SCOUTING OUT THE OPPONENTS
North Dakota State is 2-0 after defeating Tulane and Tennessee Tech at the Green Wave Classic. UNLV currently holds a 0-2 record after being swept by Nebraska and TCU at the Players Era Volleyball Showcase. Idaho State enters the matchup with a 2-1 record, most recently defeating Stephen F. Austin and Wichita State, but falling to Missouri State. 

LAST WEEK
Boise State went 1-2 at the Bulldog Invitational in Asheville, N.C. The Broncos kept a tight contest against Middle Tennessee on Friday, but fell to the Blue Raiders 3-2. The Blue and Orange dominated the host school UNC Asheville with a 3-0 sweep. To wrap up the weekend, Boise State faced Middle Tennessee for the second time on Saturday, but couldn't keep up with the Blue Raiders in a 3-0 sweep. 

BY THE NUMBERS
Three Broncos recorded double-digit kills against Middle Tennessee: Giselle Paedon (14), Azlynn Tittmann (14) and Kendall Hastings (10). Boise State had at least four service aces in two of its last three matches. Hastings led the team in blocks in all three matches with a total of 16 on the weekend. Sydney Dreves leads the team in kills with 26. Melia Barlow led the team in service aces (7) and digs (52). Tehya Maeva led the team in assists with 47. 

PAC-12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Barlow was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week after posting 52 digs and 16 assists during the Bulldog Invitational. The senior libero led the team in digs and service aces in all three contests to become the first Bronco to earn a Pac-12 weekly award. 

BRONCO DEBUTS
Boise State had 13 student-athletes play in their first contests as Broncos at the Bulldog Invitational: Barlow, Athena Cox, Amelia Hansen, Reese Hone, Jenelle Legates, Maeva, Savannah Sheridan, Sadie Snyder and Tittmann. Reese Weinert saw her first action as a Bronco. 

THE WINNING WAY
The Blue and Orange recorded a 20-11 record in 2025, setting their 10th winning season in the last 11 campaigns under head coach Shawn Garus.

PAC-12 PRESEASON 
Barlow, Dreves and Maeva have all been named to the Preseason Pac-12 Impact List. As voted on by the league's head coaches, Boise State was ranked number four on the 2026 Pac-12 predicted order of finish. 

CHASING 300
Shawn Garus earned his 400th career win as a head coach during the 2025 season. Garus currently holds a record of 299-211 in his 18th year at Boise State and 419-331 in his 25 years as a collegiate head coach. 

WHAT'S BACK
Boise State returns five Broncos from the 2025 season which includes Dreves (OH), Hastings (MB), Hallee Heath (MB), Paedon (OH) and Weinert (MB). 

WHAT'S NEW 
The Broncos added nine newcomers, including four transfers and five true freshmen. The transfers include Barlow (L, Northern Arizona), Cox (MB, Cal Baptist), Hansen (OH, SMU), and Maeva (S, Syracuse). The freshmen include Hone (L/DS, Idaho Falls, Idaho), Legates (S, Los Altos, Calif.), Sheridan (OH, Temecula, Calif.), Snyder (OH, Goodyear, Ariz.) and Tittmann (OH, Corrales, N.M.).
