Broncos Shut Out Tritons

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State secured its third shutout of the season Thursday night, defeating UC San Diego.
 
The Broncos improved to 4-1-1 on the season and extended their home unbeaten streak to 11 matches, tying the program record. Boise State's defense limited the Tritons (3-2-1) to just two shots on goal.
 
Boise State came out attacking, recording the match's first five shots on goal, including four in the opening 10 minutes. Ava de Leest made her first save of the night in the 31st minute to keep UC San Diego off the scoreboard.
 
The Broncos carried a 10-5 advantage in shots into halftime, but neither team could break through as the match remained scoreless after the first half.
 
Boise State finally found the score board in the 73rd minute. Jillian Anderson's corner kick started the scoring sequence, with Cindy Conner taking the initial shot that was blocked by a Triton defender. Campbell Wilson followed with a shot that ricocheted off the left post and fell to Asia Lawyer, who finished the rebound into the back of the net to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead.
 
De Leest made her second save in the 78th minute and held UC San Diego scoreless the rest of the way, securing her fourth win of the season and Boise State's third shutout.
