BOISE STATE VERSUS THE COUGARS
BYU leads the all-time series 10-0. The last time the two teams met was at BYU on Dec. 3, 2021, where the Cougars defeated Boise State 3-0. Tuesday's contest will mark the third time the two teams meet in Boise. The Cougars lead the series at Boise State 2-0.Â
BOISE STATE VERSUS AVCA TOP 25
Boise State is looking for its fourth win against an AVCA Top 25 team in program history. All three wins against ranked opponents have been under head coach Shawn Garus. Most recently, the Broncos faced No. 18 Washington on Sept. 17, 2022, when the Huskies defeated Boise State 3-0. The last time Boise State defeated a top 25 opponent was on Sept. 13, 2021 against No. 10 Utah 3-1 in Bronco Gym.
SCOUTING OUT THE COUGARS
BYU enters the matchup with a 3-1 record, most recently falling to No. 2 Pittsburgh (3-1) and breaking its 3-0 undefeated streak. At the start of the season, the Cougars defeated Florida State and Florida Gulf Coast in the FGCU Invitational. On Sept. 3, BYU swept Eastern Illinois 3-0.Â
LAST WEEK
Boise State finished the Boise State Classic with a 2-1 record. The Broncos rallied past North Dakota State 3-0 on the first day of the tournament. The Blue and Orange collected their second sweep (3-0) of the weekend against UNLV. To wrap up the Boise State Classic, Idaho State defeated Boise State in five sets (3-2).Â
BY THE NUMBERS
Three Broncos recorded double-digit kills at the Boise State Classic: Sydney Dreves (12 vs. North Dakota State, 19 vs. Idaho State), Amelia Hansen (14, vs. Idaho State) and Azlynn Tittmann (10, vs. Idaho State). Boise State tallied a season-high .358 attack percentage against North Dakota State. The Broncos posted four season highs against Idaho State: 62 kills, 57 assists, 86 digs and 10 blocks.Â
STAT LEADERS
Dreves leads the team in kills with 66. Kendall Hastings paces the team with 29 blocks. Melia Barlow leads the team in digs (97). Tehya Maeva tops the team leaderboard with 110 assists. Tittmann leads the team with eight service aces.Â
BOISE STATE CLASSIC HONORS
Dreves earned Boise State Classic MVP after tallying 40 kills, eight blocks, five service aces and 22 digs. Barlow and Tittmann were named to the all-tournament team. Barlow put up 45 digs and 13 assists during the tournament. Tittmann recorded 32 kills and 17 digs.Â
300 WINS
Garus earned his 300th career win at Boise State after a 3-0 win against North Dakota State. Last season, Garus tallied his 400th career victory as a collegiate head coach.Â
PAC-12 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Barlow was named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 1) after posting 52 digs and 16 assists during the Bulldog Invitational. The senior libero led the team in digs and service aces in all three contests to become the first Bronco to earn a Pac-12 weekly award.Â
THE WINNING WAY
The Blue and Orange recorded a 20-11 record in 2025, setting their 10th winning season in the last 11 campaigns under Garus.
PAC-12 PRESEASONÂ
Barlow, Dreves and Maeva have all been named to the Preseason Pac-12 Impact List. As voted on by the league's head coaches, Boise State was ranked number four on the 2026 Pac-12 predicted order of finish.Â
WHAT'S BACKÂ
Boise State returns five Broncos from the 2025 season which includes Dreves (OH), Hastings (MB), Hallee Heath (MB), Giselle Paedon (OH) and Reese Weinert (MB).Â
WHAT'S NEWÂ
The Broncos added nine newcomers, including four transfers and five true freshmen. The transfers include Barlow (L, Northern Arizona), Athena Cox (MB, Cal Baptist), Hansen (OH, SMU), and Maeva (S, Syracuse). The freshmen include Reese Hone (L/DS, Idaho Falls, Idaho), Jenelle Legates (S, Los Altos, Calif.), Savannah Sheridan (OH, Temecula, Calif.), Sadie Snyder (OH, Goodyear, Ariz.) and Tittmann (OH, Corrales, N.M.).
