BOISE STATE CAREER
2018-19: CROSS COUNTRY- Appeared at five meets on the season, never finishing lower than third on the team, while also earning the first All-America honors of her career. . . opened the season with a third-place finish at the Sundodger Invitational, running 20:31.30 for 6k to help lead a 1-2-3-4 Boise State sweep (Sept. 8) . . . finished in the top 10 – one of three Boise State runners to do so – at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, placing ninth (19:58.2) to help lead Boise State to a runner-up finish (Sept. 28) . . . improved on her showing at the Mountain West Championships by a spot from her freshman to sophomore years, taking sixth (20:41.3) to earn first-team all-conference honors (Oct. 26) . . . was Boise State’s No. 3 runner at the West Region Championships, placing 11th (19:53.9) to help the team to a second-place finish and automatic bid to the national championship (Nov. 9) . . . was the team’s second runner at the national championships in 39th, just good enough to earn the first All-America honors of her career (Nov. 17) . . . INDOOR- Made her indoor debut at the Sharon Colyear-Danville BU Season Opener, taking second in her heat of the 5000m. Time of 15:53.47 was good for fourth on the Boise State record book (Dec. 1) . . . moved to second on the school record book in the 3000m (9:08.66), finishing eighth in the invitational section of the 3000m (Jan. 25-26) . . . improved on her 5000m time by nearly eight seconds, running 15:45.09 to finish seventh and move to third on the school record book in the event (Feb. 8) . . . OUTDOOR- Left the program in March.
2017-18: CROSS COUNTRY- Steadily improved throughout the season to become one of Boise State's top runners in a breakout freshman campaign . . . s scorer in all but one race on the season . . . one of two freshmen to crack the lineup on the women’s side . . . Was the third freshman across the line as Boise State’s No. 2 runner at the NCAA Championships in 53rd (Nov. 18) . . . earned All-Region honors with a 22nd-place showing as the Broncos No. 3 runner in 20:11.8 . . . first-team All-Mountain West after finishing in seventh at the Mountain West Championships (Oct. 27) . . . finished 62nd in 20:54.2 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (Oct. 13) . . . opened her Bronco career with a 26th-place showing at the Greater Louisville Classic (Sept. 30) . . . INDOOR- Did not compete . . . OUTDOOR- Had a dominant season outdoors, competing in five meets on the season . . . Broke the 16-minute barrier in the 5,000m four times on the season . . . qualified to represent the United States at the IAAF World U20 Championships with a second-place finish at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships . . . just missed reaching the NCAA National Championships with a 15th-place finish in the 5,000m at the NCAA West Preliminary Round (May 24-26) . . . set a personal best of 34:16.66 in the 10,000m at the Mountain West Championships, scoring four points in fifth (May 9-12) . . . opened the season with a personal best of 15:49.12 in the 5,000m at the Stanford Invitational (March 30-31) . . . ran 4:24.33 for 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 19-2) . . . also competed at the Payton Jordan Invitational, taking fourth in the 5,000m (May 3).
One of the top prep distance runners in the country this past season, Emily Venters will come to the Blue and Orange having just recently taken seventh place in the two mile at the Brooks PR Invitational thanks to a blistering 10:19.31. The owner of five state titles, Venters recently won the 1,600m and 3,200m titles at the 2017 Kansas 6A Track and Field State Championship. She was runner-up in both events as a junior in 2016. Also an excellent cross country runner, Venters took second at the Nike Heartland Regional and went on place 32nd at Nike Cross Nationals. 1,600m – 4:49.36 | 3,200m – 10:16.31
