Outside of his freshman season when he divided his playing time between center and left tackle, Steele was a left tackle his last three seasons at Murrieta Valley High in Murrieta, California under coach George Wilson...in his senior season, he was named the league’s most valuable offensive lineman and was a team captain for the Nighthawks’ league championship team...a three-time All-Southwestern League football honoree...the two-sport athlete was a shot put and discus thrower on the track and field team.
