Yuri Salzano is in his second season as a volunteer assistant. Salzano came to Boise State from Mesa Community College in Arizona where he was recruited to play by current Boise State assistant Ali Borhani.
 
Salzano played one year for the MCC Thunderbirds helping them to a ninth-place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championship in 2018. 

In just his second season at Mesa, Salzano was elevated to an assistant coach, prior to Borhani moving to Boise in August 2018. With Salzano as the assistant coach, Mesa went on to place sixth at the 2019 NJCAA National Championship.
