BOISE STATE TENURE

Brandon Blaisdell begins his fifth season as Boise State’s head diving coach. Blaisdell is responsible for the recruiting and coaching of the diving team, in addition to assisting with the day-to-day operations for the swimming and diving program.

During Blaisdell’s first four years as the diving coach, the Boise State swimming and diving team has won two Mountain West Conference titles in 2017 and 2018, placed second once (2016) and third once (2019). His divers have earned eight All-Mountain West honors, five have advanced to the NCAA Zone E Championships with Cassidy Bose (2017) becoming the first Bronco diver in program history to reach the NCAA Championships. 

Academically, the swimming and diving program has received eight-consecutive CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors during his four-year tenure. Individually, his diving team has earned six CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mention accolades, 14 Academic All-Mountain West honors and nine Mountain West Scholar-Athlete awards for maintaining a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better.

 

PRIOR TO BOISE STATE

Blaisdell arrived in Boise with a decorated resume at the senior and junior national levels, as well as, the collegiate level. He served as the program manager and coach of the Mile High Diving Club in Littleton, Colo., 2013-15, and also coached a USA Diving Regional Dry-land Training Center.

From 2010-13 Blaisdell pulled double duty, serving as head coach at the Minnesota Diving Academy while also working as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Minnesota.

While in Minnesota, Blaisdell assisted in the training and development of U.S. Olympian Kelci Bryant, who would go on to claim the silver medal in the women’s 3-meter synchronized diving event alongside Abigail Johnston at the 2012 Olympics in London. Bryant and Johnston also claimed the 2012 USA Diving national title in the same event.

He had 18 divers from the Minnesota Diving Academy go on to earn diving scholarships at NCAA Division I programs, and coached over 60 divers to the Junior and Senior National Championships. 

While at the University of Minnesota, Blaisdell helped coach men’s and women’s divers to five Big Ten titles and three runner-up finishes. In 2011 and 2013, Golden Gopher women’s divers swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events as Bryant (2011) and Maggie Keefer (2013) each claimed titles, while Kris Jorgensen captured the men’s platform championship in 2012.

Overall, at the collegiate level, Blaisdell helped coach Minnesota’s divers to nine All-America honors, had 11 NCAA Championships qualifiers, five women’s NCAA finalists, two women’s runner-ups and one NCAA 1-meter diving champion (Bryant, 2011).

 

PERSONAL

Blaisdell graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology. He and his wife Jeanette have two sons, Griffin and Rowan.
