Broncos to Meet Invading Eleven at Public School Field at 3:30 p.m.
BOISE, Idaho – Handicapped by injury but with the players feeling confident due to the memory of a 6 to 0 conquest of Ricks College a week ago, the Boise Junior College Broncos tangle with the newly organized Gooding College eleven at Public School Field this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock.
Â
Among the afflicted on Max Eiden's squad are Bob Shaw, quarterback, Cantlin, halfback, and Morgan, center, who are suffering from wrenched knees and other assorted bruises. They may all see action, however, if replacements called up from the reserves are unable to cope with the Gooding attack, said Eiden.
Â
The Bronco coach failed to share the confidence of his players Thursday night. "Gooding has had two weeks rest from competition and their players undoubtedly have improved since their early season defeat by Ricks," said Eiden. "While I fear my team is overconfident after upsetting the Rexburg eleven."
Â
Gooding College brings its first football team in 10 years to do battle with the Broncos this afternoon. The gridiron sport was resumed at the school only this season after a lapse of a decade.
Â
Teachers to Attend
Â
Members of local high school football squads, including Boise St. Joseph's, Eagle, Franklin and others, will be guests of the Junior College today. Students and teachers here for the district conference are also expected to attend.
Â
Eiden's prospective lineup today will include two new faces in the starting squad. Carpenter, tackle, and Black at guard. Rigney, a tackle, has been moved to center to fill the injured Morgan's post. Others on the line will include Jennings at guard, Weber at tackle; Orbea and Joy at the wing positions. The quarterback selection will be made from a choice of four candidates, Shaw, Shelton, Jurries or Joyce. Stoddard and Nalley will work at halfback while Urresti will be at his regular fullback position.
